sleep is elusive tonight, yet again, to no surprise. it's for a different reason tonight though - it feels like i have truly awakened in a sense to the short respite ahead, which started with a lovely dinner companion and good ole hawker food, and a much needed massage at wan yang (how it has been saving me during this internship!), and finally baking without having to shave off time and compromise on quality (portable muffin-sized bread pudding with a surprise to be added tomorrow, rocky road scones, and sweet crust pastry dough now stored in the freezer with so many possible fillings...). and this promise of time, however tainted it is by work brought home, by tasks to do for school, has filled me with an unescapable sort of secret excitement. heck, it's a bloody luxury to sleep in right now.

edgar sawtelle has gotten me hooked right from the first page, despite the long inertia in starting it due to it being a rather fat volume. it has been a long while since something like that has happened. the author, david wroblewski, has this amazing mastery of words that makes the words so real, details as sharp and natural as light in a film. the way he writes displays this wise understanding, and evokes the deeper, quieter, and more powerful feelings within.

it is already mid-2012, i am almost 22...
